Heinrich Unterhofer begun his studies of music at the Conservatory Monteverdi of Bolzano (I) and afterwards took the diploma at the Conservatorey“Verdi” of Milano, studying under Maestro Azio Corghi.
He is a composer of orchestra and chamber music which has been performed in several countries of Europe and America and won several prizes of national and international level such as “L’Ulivo D’Oro”(“The golden olive-tree”) at Imperia (I) the “Tiroler Gedenkjahr 84”(The memory year 84 of Tyrol”) in Austria, the “G.B:Viotti” prize at Vercelli (I), the “La Ville de Bagneux”(“The city of Bayeux”) at Paris (F), the” Città di Trieste”(“The city of Trieste” (I) and “Ibla Award” at New York. He composed also pieces of music for theatre such as a musical comedy for children “Ufo” and the opera “ Der grosse Maeuse Prozess zu Glurns”.(“The big mice-trial of Glurns”). His Experimental Music has been performed in important exhibitions like “Musica x occhi”(“ Music for eyes”)and “Words Place” at the Museum of Modern Art of Ginevra (CH) and the “Exhibition seven sins” which is hold at the moment at the “Museion”of Bolzano (I). Beside his important activity as a composer he is also a conductor of orchestra with the accurate intention to realize new musical projects as much as possible together with classic music. In this manner has been carried out the “multimedia” opera “Borderline”, “Elvira Madigan”, a Swedish Musical for which he attended as well to the scoring as to the stage-setting.
Heinrich Unterhofer had several recording made for Rai (Italian Broadcasting and Television )of Bolzano and Trento (I) for the “ORF”(Austrian Broadcasting and Television) of Innsbruck (A) and for the Record Society Map of Milan (I).
From 2002 he is teaching as a composition professor at the Conservatory Monteverdi of Bolzano.
He performed several musical compositions of his own and compositions of the composer from Milano(I) Alfonso Rega together with the Orchestra “Camerata Vicentina” and with the “Orchestra Cantelli”. The Symphonies performed are “11 Settembre”(“The 11th ” ). of September”), “La Divina Commedia”(“The Divine Comedy”) , “Olocausto”(“ The Holocaust”) in several towns such as Vicenza(I) ,Bolzano(I), Milano(I). He conducted also the performance of “Francesco e Chiara degli Angeli” (“Francesco and Chiara of the Angels”), composed by himself, during the “Francesco Festival” together with the “Orchestra Cantelli” of Milano(I). He also carried out a tour of 8 Concerts in the north of Italy together with the “Orchestra Filarmonica Italiana” and obtained excellent approval from critics and audience.
