Maurizio Ferrari (Scandiano, RE, 1956) graduated from the Musical Institute “Achille Peri” of Reggio Emilia under the guidance of A. Gentilucci. His Works were performed in national and international festivals. In particular: Arteforum, Nuova Consonanza (Rome), Musica del nostro tempo (Milan), Accademia Chigiana di Siena, Teatro alla Scala, Festival “Spazio Musica” in Cagliari. In April 2000 the Cantelli orchestra of Milan performed his work for orchestra and electronics during the festival “Metafonie” organized by the magazine “Musica/Realtà”. The prima of the New York “Quartetto d’archi con flauti” was performed at the J. Sibelius Academy in Helsinkj. The composition “Un fiore… gracile al vento” for voices, instruments and organ was performed during the festival “Rec” (Reggio Emilia Contemporanea); this work is the final part of a dramaturgical project which rethinks the theatrical/musical space. Another important theatrical experiment was the realization of the cameristic opera “Una voce di donna… Polifonia per Rosa” which prima was performed at the Verdi theater in Milan, then performed during the cycle “Cinque giornate” organized by the Centro Musica Contemporanea, and during the Verdi Festival at the Regio theater in Parma. Currently he is the Director of the Istitute of higher education Achille Peri in Reggio Emilia.
